We are thrilled to announce that the 65 Roses Gala 2011, la notte all'opera, raised $365,000 for cystic fibrosis research and treatment! Thank you so much to all our amazing sponsors, guests, donors, committee, volunteers and supporters that made this success possible. We would like to offer a special thank you to our generous honorary co-chairs, Sid & Leigh Keay and to our creative and committed co-chairs, Jackie Bevis and Leona Pinsky. The money we raised together on November 5th will directly support our committment to deliver new science from the labratory to the clinic.

The Vancouver Leisure Society's 3rd Annual Lawn Bowling Tournament was a great success! The 65 Red Roses painting was created by 65 prestigious Canadian artists in honour of Eva Markvoort (1984-2010). It was donated by the Federation of Canadian Artists to Cystic Fibrosis Canada for use as a fundraising tool to find a cure for CF.  We are pleased to announce that the original piece has found a home in the main lobby of BC Children's Hospital. For information on ordering reproductions please call 604-436-1158.

Each province in Canada has active Chapters. There are a total of 50 chapters located in Canada. Individual chapters are made up of volunteers who are deeply committed to finding a solution to CF. They organize and stage fund raising activates, raise awareness of CF in their local communities, and support family and friends who are coping with CF daily.

Is there a cure?

As yet, there is no known cure for CF, but there is real hope. Comprehensive treatment programs have dramatically extended the life expectancy of persons with CF and many are living into their 20s, 30s and beyond.

Recent years have seen remarkable progress in CF research. Since 1989 when Canadian researchers discovered the gene responsible for CF, global research to find a cure for the disease has brought us closer and closer to a solution.

The astonishing pace of CF science suggests that there is good reason to feel optimistic about the future.
